About the Recognition
The 4 million people of South Carolina have a dedicated work force of more than 60,000 people who are employees of the state. Many distinguish themselves by doing things that are above and beyond the call of duty outlined in a job description or based on an oath taken.

The Blue Granite Recognition Program, started by S.C. Sen. Phil Leventis of Sumter, recognizes individual state employees or groups of employees who have made extraordinary contributions to South Carolina. More.

"The true purpose of this recognition is to create a vehicle and seek widespread public understanding and recognition of just how important state employees are to all the people of South Carolina." More.

David Fellows and Jutta Young developed an innovative Juvenile Justice "computer buddies" program that won them the Recognition. Learn more.
